You are a canon/consistency lens for the novel at redacted. Read CLAUDE.md first and obey it; do not read notes/sealed/.

Your material: draft/book-01/scenes/11-reports.md, read after scenes 01–10 in the same directory (Days 3–4; the reports reach Edwin secondhand).

redacted sentence: unpublished prose 002 comment "This was reported — not really clear who is reporting on Peri to whom": check every report here has a named channel), notes/reader-notes-rewrite.md. Also chapters/003-the-improbability-engine.md, the groundwork this restages.

Report FINDINGS ONLY — line quoted, canon file and line, what is wrong. No "clean" verdicts. Briefly and separately: canon the scene could use and does not. Do not edit. Do not commit. Your final message is the report.

Findings — draft/book-01/scenes/11-reports.md vs canon

1. Frost list custody is reversed from Established fact.
Scene 11: "Two things off Anders," she said, with the frost list under her arm, which she had taken back in the night.
This has Sorrel reclaiming the frost list from Edwin. But ch. 003 (Established) has it the other way round: "He took the frost list back off Sorrel. She raised an eyebrow and gave it to him and said nothing." (chapters/003-the-improbability-engine.md:5) — and Edwin keeps it in his own possession the rest of that day, right through to the closing beat (Edwin ate one over the frost list, ch. 003:41, matched by scene 11's own closing Edwin ate one over the frost list). Nowhere in canon does Sorrel take the list back at night. This is an unforced inversion of an on-page fact, and it's internally inconsistent with the scene's own closing line, which still has Edwin with the list.

2. An Established on-page quote has been reworded.
Scene 11: She told Mrs Hobbet the Weave works in ways that are hard to read, and that possibly the goats were significant.
Ch. 003 (Established, cited in peri.md and system.md's Weave-quotation ruling): "She told Mrs. Hobbet the Weave works in mysterious ways, and that possibly the goats were significant." This is a direct quote of what Peri told Mrs Hobbet, relayed by Sorrel — it isn't free paraphrase territory, it's the reported content of a specific on-page utterance, and the wording has been changed without a canon note authorizing it.

3. The winch report's channel is newly invented and not grounded in canon.
Scene 11 attributes the winch story to the smith's boy, who came for the tower's scythe blades on the third morning and stayed to tell it. No "smith's boy" exists in notes/canon/characters/minor.md — only "the smith" is named (minor.md:58-61), and the one on-page "smith's boy" reference (ch. 003:59, "So the smith's boy had it from the ostler") is the chairman relaying a different rumour (about Peri's arrival, via the ostler), not the winch. This is a plausible invented fix for the reader-notes complaint about unclear channels, but it's uncited new material, not backfilled — worth a canon note if kept, since it names a previously nonexistent character function.

4. Edwin's own firsthand winch inspection is dropped, changing the epistemic status of an Established beat.
Timeline (world/timeline.md:141-143) logs Day 4: Corry winch inspected — this is Edwin personally visiting the Corry place and finding the filed tooth "finished finer than it needed to be" (ch. 003:69), an important characterization beat (Peri's excess care, unwitnessed and pointless-seeming). Scene 11, per its brief, renders the winch report entirely secondhand (smith's boy relay) and never has Edwin go look himself. That's a legitimate restaging choice if a later scene covers Day 4's inspection, but as it stands the scene silently drops an Established fact-gathering event rather than accounting for it.

5. Day-placement of Sorrel's report diverges from the timeline's Day 3 bucket.
Timeline lists the goat-shed day (Weave question, "where in the vale she was most needed") under Day 3, bundled with "frost list taken back" and the roof leak — i.e. ch. 003 has the whole reports-and-frost-list-and-roof scene occurring on Day 3, with Sorrel's "yesterday morning" referring to Day 2. Scene 11 instead puts Sorrel's report on "the fourth morning," which would make "yesterday morning" correctly land on Day 3 — actually a more internally consistent reading than ch. 003's own placement, but it means the scene no longer lines up with the timeline's literal Day 3 bucketing, and no canon note flags the resulting shift of the frost-list/roof-leak material to a different day than currently logged.

Canon this scene could use and doesn't
