You are a canon-consistency lens for a novel draft. Facts only — no style or voice comments, and never propose cutting a reason, an explanation, an answer or a qualification.
Read, in full (rulings accumulate dated at the bottom of files, so read whole files):
- redacted/draft/book-01/scenes/34-off-the-post.md (the scene under check — a fresh draft)
- redacted/draft/book-01/scenes/31-the-pantry-door.md, 32-nobodys-going-to-laugh.md, 33-a-man-in-a-robe.md (the scenes before it)
- redacted/notes/canon/characters/mattie-ordish.md, ferrin.md, minor.md, edwin.md, peri.md
- redacted/notes/canon/world/silent-soil.md, magic.md, timeline.md
- redacted/draft/book-01/SCENES.md (the binding lists at the top of both tables)
Read ONLY the files listed above. Do not open, search, glob or grep any other directory or file; do not use grep or find at all.
Scene 34 is the morning of Day 10 (24 Cornmonth): the gate at five, the dew watched (even, arc and no arc — canon), the chain run twice on Mattie's line (9 ch 50 unpublished, return 9 ch 48 unpublished), the rates computed against the door's figures (4 ch 00 late Seedmonth; 6 ch 60 unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose
Report as a list of findings only: quoted line, the conflicting fact (file and quote), and a minimal replacement preserving the sentence's reason. If a fact is merely uncited but not contradicted, say "uncontradicted, uncited" and move on. No praise. Your final message is the report.

Findings — consistency check, scene 34 (off-the-post)
"Tess, who milked at seven and had negotiated hard for the interval" — uncontradicted, uncited. minor.md establishes Tess "milks till seven" as a fixed daily duty but nowhere records her rearranging it to attend a field walk. The scene shows her present at the 5 a.m. gate and still with the party well into the chain-reading/rate discussion (which, given the hour-long chain run alone, likely runs past 7:00), with no line showing her leaving to milk. Not a contradiction of any established fact, but the "negotiated hard for the interval" detail is invented and unconfirmed elsewhere — flag for the author's awareness, no fix required.
All measurement facts check out exactly against canon and require no changes:
silent-soil.md's canon geometry definition verbatim in substance.mattie-ordish.md and silent-soil.md (9 ch 50 unpublished / 9 ch 48 unpublished, ~209 yd, two links).31-the-pantry-door.md, mattie-ordish.md).Edwin's hand-bracketing ("bracket it to about a foot," "no gradient... this doesn't") matches the canon boundary fact: "sharp within one foot... no gradient" (silent-soil.md). The scene uses hand-listening rather than the trowel-pinch or astride quickening assay named in canon — this is an different, uncontradicted instrument (hand-listening on ground is independently established, e.g. magic.md), not a conflict, and the astride assay/trowel are correctly not invoked here.
Sennet/north-headland geography is correct: "your arcs already run out at the north headland, and the far side of that redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose
No band dating appears (correctly deferred to later material), no confirmation or implication of harm/safety from ring exposure, no mention of the ground being "dead," and no connection drawn to Holm Deep or any other site/the keeping charm — all correctly avoided per the sealed/forbidden constraints.
Sennet's refusal is correctly not pre-empted: Edwin says only "I'll ask him tomorrow," and Mattie's "He'll say no... before you've finished asking" is a prediction from her own knowledge of her neighbour, not an early disclosure of scene 37's terms. Consistent with instructions.
Ferrin's positioning ("he never came through the gate, and he never left it either," present at both start and end) is consistent with his established behavior pattern of standing outside/at the gate through long workings (ferrin.md, the six-hour gate stand precedent).
Dew observation ("dew even across all of it... arc and no arc") is a verbatim match to the established fact in silent-soil.md.
No fact-level contradictions found requiring a quoted-line/replacement fix; the one item above (Tess's schedule) is uncontradicted, uncited, and offered only as a note.
