I've launched two parallel research agents: one extracting continuity facts from scenes 25-51 (the pantry-door promise, "the ninth"/"the fifth"/fortnight references, oak stakes, the carrier, Tess's hundred seconds, Mattie's field comment in scene 51 unpublished, and the Charter book/slate in scenes 44-46), and one reading all the canon ground-truth files plus target scenes 52-55 for direct cross-checking, calendar math, Mattie voice-rule compliance, and deferred-question boundaries.

Both are still running — I'll report the full findings once they complete.

Noted — first research agent (scenes 25-51 continuity extraction) has completed. Waiting on the second agent (canon files + target scenes 52-55) before I synthesize the full report.

Canon Consistency Check — Scenes 52-55 (draft/book-01)

(1) Hard contradictions with Established/Working canon or scenes 25-51

A. Stake count discrepancy carried forward is fine, but a new one appears: redacted's stakes.
Scene 53 unpublished (53-odderins-gate.md unpublished) has redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose This is new information (canon's silent-soil.md doesn't specify wood or count for the pale field) — not a contradiction per se, but flag it against the Ordish-field stake precedent (12 cut, 9 driven, later up to 11 per scenes 38/42/44/45) since a reader tracking stake counts across sites will compare them. Not a hard error — listed here for visibility, properly belongs in (5).

B. "The ninth" does not resolve against the established pantry-door promise or the Day-N/date mapping.
Scene 54 unpublished (54-before-the-charter.md unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose

• The pantry-door fortnight promise is made in scene 31, which precedes scene 38 (stakes driven 25 Cornmonth) and the Cornmonth-dated scenes 42-48 (dates 25-30 Cornmonth). So the promise falls somewhere in Cornmonth, well before the 25th.
• Given Day 1 = 15 Cornmonth, any date "9 [Cornmonth]" would fall before Day 1 — i.e., before the story starts — which is impossible since the promise is made well into the Fenholt visit, after Day 1.
• If "the ninth" instead means 9 Harvestmonth, that's after 5 Harvestmonth (Day 21, "it's the fifth"), which breaks the "you told her X and it's now later" logic entirely — the ninth can't be both earlier than the fifth and in Harvestmonth.
• Either way, "the ninth" as written cannot be made to fit both the calendar (Day 1 = 15 Cornmonth) and the stated "ten days" gap to 5 Harvestmonth. Minimal fix: replace "the ninth" with a date that is both in Cornmonth after Day 1 and exactly ten days before 5 Harvestmonth by the story's day-count (i.e., 25 Cornmonth — which also happens to be the stake-driving date in scene 38, so reusing it may itself be the error; more likely the intended date is a specific day in the low-to-mid twenties of Cornmonth that hasn't drifted). This needs the author's actual intended day, not a guess — flag rather than silently fix.

C. redacted's "second time" blowing-out claim conflicts with the established mouth-air chronology.
Scene 55 unpublished (55-four-miles-of-nothing.md unpublished), redacted: "I was out there at seven. It's blowing out. That's the second time, and you've had the first off me since the second of the month."
redacted sentence: unpublished prose That makes the blow recorded on the 5th (today, in-scene) the mouth's first recorded blow, not its second — the 2nd was a null reading, not a first blow.

• As drafted, redacted's line implies an earlier, off-page blow between the 2nd and the 5th that canon does not record. Either canon's timeline needs an entry added (if this is meant to be new information — see (5)) or the line should read "that's the first" with the 2nd cited only as the prior (null) reading. Suggest checking against notes/canon/world/dungeons.md's literal air-reading list before deciding which side gives.

D. SCENES.md act-two binding says the improbability engine is named aloud "once (53)"; the actual speech is in 54.
draft/book-01/SCENES.md's foot-of-file binding list states Edwin names the improbability engine aloud once, in scene 53 unpublished. The coincidence-catalogue speech ("I have not once, since the bridge, wanted a thing to do with going east...") is in scene 54 unpublished, not 53. Either the binding-list citation is stale (needs updating to "54") or the beat was meant to land in 53 and drifted during drafting. Minimal fix: update SCENES.md's citation to scene 54 unpublished, once confirmed that's where DRMacIver wants it.

(2) Deferred questions resolved casually

None found. Specifically checked and clear:

• No line connects the pale field or redacted's field to Holm Deep — scene 55 unpublished explicitly does the opposite, ruling the connection out on the page via redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose is ruled no, permanently."* This is a correct dramatization, not a violation.
• No line names the ground "dead," draws a causal line through the sites beyond stating the third (Wystow) site's existence (already Established per canon), or puts a store/heap/charm in a sentence with a field.

• redacted's standing/credibility horizon: scenes 54-55 have her writing careful, checkable record entries but do not date how long it will take her to be believed — compliant.

(3) Day/date/calendar errors

• The one calendar problem is (1)(B) above — "the ninth" in scene 54 unpublished does not resolve against the Day 1 = 15 Cornmonth anchor or against the ten-day gap Peri states in the same line. This is the one date error requiring the author's decision on the intended day.
• Scene 51 unpublished (reference-only, not under review, but the discrepancy feeds directly into scene 54 unpublished's arithmetic): its own title ("A page ruled two weeks ago") vs. body text ("the eighth day," "it's been eight days," a list "left off... on the tenth") describes an 8-10 day gap, not fourteen. If scene 54 unpublished's "the ninth ... fortnight ... ten days" arithmetic is meant to chain off scene 51 unpublished's dating, the two scenes are pulling from inconsistent day-counts and should be reconciled together, not scene 54 unpublished alone.

(4) Sums, distances, counts

• No internal arithmetic errors found within scenes 52-55 themselves (twig count 11, arc lengths, mileages, redacted's "eleven weeks and five days"/"thirty-three days" figures were not recomputed in 52-55, so nothing to check there).
• Distance/direction wording variance: scene 52 unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose
• redacted's "five miles and a quarter" (Holm Deep to Ordish gate, scene 55 unpublished) matches canon's "five miles and some"/"5 miles and a quarter" — no issue.
• The "second time" blowing-out count in finding (1)(C) is as much a count problem as a date problem — listed there.

(5) New facts established (for backfill — not added to canon here)

1. redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished).
2. Sheep dung inside the pale field's arc lines stays whole/unrotted/no beetle holes, vs. normal decay outside the line (scene 52 unpublished).
3. redacted's field origin story: "the folding ground," nightly sheep-folding (up to 300 sheep) Milkmonth to frost, put to permanent pasture by redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished).
4. Four other locally "bad" fields (Hatchett's bottom, the Clay Piece behind the church, two former commons on the Sluice road) tested by Edwin and cleared as ordinary — a new control set (scene 53 unpublished).
5. redacted's stakes: oak (his insistence, not ash), six only, outer line only (scene 53 unpublished).
6. redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished).
7. A possible new off-page mouth-blow event implied by redacted's "second time" line (scene 55 unpublished) — see (1)(C); if intentional, this is new timeline content that should be added to dungeons.md's air-reading list.

(6) Mattie voice-rule violations

Mattie appears only in scene 54 unpublished, five lines total:

1. "Fifty miles." — compliant (short, no violation).

4. "Then it's not just mine... redacted sentence: unpublished prose The cumulative "and"-pile with clauses is explicitly reserved as redacted's construction, banned for Mattie. Also opens with "Then," and the sentence-shape rule wants short declaratives in a row, not one long compound sentence. This line needs to be broken into the stacked short-declarative form and stripped of "as if" and the "and...and" chain.
5. "It's my field... redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose

Net: two of five Mattie lines (3 and 4) read as violations of her binding voice rules — subordinate-clause and cumulative-"and" constructions that canon reserves for other characters (Peri and redacted respectively). Line 4 in particular is a significant register drift (Mattie's longest, most complex line in the scene, right at what should be her clipped, object-anchored register).
