You are rebuilding a sealed answer in the fiction project at redacted. Read first: CLAUDE.md (especially "Sealed answers"), notes/sealed/destiny.md (the current answer), notes/sealed/COHERENCE.md, notes/sealed/magic-constraints.md, notes/sealed/magic-origins.md, notes/canon/system.md (sections "[Agent of Fate] (Peri)" and "Aging and longevity"), notes/canon/world/magic-theory.md §7, notes/theme.md unpublished (all, including the new "The series spine" section at the end), notes/canon/world/healing.md (the new final section "redacted, and the second revolution"), notes/canon/deferred-beats.md (the final section "redacted"), and draft/book-01/scenes/02, 03, 05, 06 (the Seal on the page).
DRMacIver (the author, design authority) has ruled today, 2026-08-30, overruling the current sealed answer at its root:
redacted sentence: unpublished prose We want to be able to have flexibility on what she demands from Seal of the Loom, and it's sufficiently set that we should set it there." — So: the destiny field is NOT blank and NOT filled in later from the bound person's life. It is set at the cast, from what the binder demands, written in the System's own flat grammar (the doing, never the object). Edwin's box on the page will read, in the System's register, something like
[Destiny: show Peri Millbrook how to save the world.][Terms: until fulfilled.]. Peri, on redacted (deferred-beats.md), demands that the child lives.(2) The series spine (theme.md): Peri saves the world from redacted; Edwin's destiny is to show her how.
redacted sentence: unpublished prose
Your job: REWRITE notes/sealed/destiny.md as a new answer under these rulings — a rebuild, not a patch. redacted sentence perhaps demands the world smooths a road to that the binder did not think through; redacted's prohibition premise — can a binder demand "do not X"? redacted sentence Decide and write: what exactly the binder's demand becomes in the box (the System's grammar transforms it — how?); what the engine does from day one now that there is a direction (smoothing toward Edwin showing Peri — the stacked coincidences of scenes 03–05 and the letters east are now aimed, which is fine); what "fulfilled" tests for Edwin's destiny (recommend: the work of showing her is independent of him — she can do it without him — so the locked ending, handover, is still the exit); what it tests for the child ("lives" — fulfilled when? the fever breaks? or when the child reaches the Choosing at eighteen? choose and defend; note the price of a Seal on a child either way); what Peri owns and does not yet understand (an accelerant, not a leash — that reading likely survives); keep the engineering discipline (magnitudes, reach). Keep the structure of the existing file: answer; mechanism; why this and not the alternatives; evidence table (against the third-draft scenes, not the groundwork chapters); discrepancies honestly left in; objections and answers (run your own adversarial pass: write three objections — evidence, theme, craft — and answer or concede each); what the story is now committed to (must happen / can no longer happen); clues to plant; confidence; verification record; cross-answer notes (deeps, silent-soil, peri-pre-choosing, redacted, magic-origins — keep every existing guard that still applies, e.g. the engine never touches the Deep thread or the soil evidence). The old file's content should be preserved in git history only; note at the top that the 2026-08-28 answer was superseded by DRMacIver's ruling of 2026-08-30 and why.
Then update: notes/sealed/magic-constraints.md (the Seal/engine/Weave sections and hard walls — replace the blank-field constraints with the new ones); notes/sealed/COHERENCE.md (add a "Pass 4 — destiny rebuilt" section: what changed, what guards survive, any new conflicts with the other answers, especially peri-pre-choosing's "nothing selected her / no want before the Choosing" and the soil answer's Peri debts); notes/sealed/magic-origins.md (the sentence in §3 that says the System's ability is "a hold on a life" and the §6 destiny cross-note — reconcile with the new mechanism in one or two sentences each).
Use the Edit/Write tools on those files. In your FINAL REPLY report SHAPE ONLY — no content of any sealed file: which files changed, section names, how many constraints from the old answer survived / were dropped / are new, what the three adversarial objections were about (topic only) and whether each was answered or conceded, your confidence, and any decision you think DRMacIver must be asked (phrased without revealing sealed content). The author reads your reply.
I'll start by reading all the required files.

destiny.md — rewritten as a rebuild. Header now records that the 2026-08-28 answer was superseded at its root by your 2026-08-30 ruling, why, and that the old text lives in git history only. Structure kept: The answer (§§1–10, ending with an explicit what survived / what was dropped / what is new ledger); Why this and not the alternatives (7); Evidence table (27 rows, re-derived against draft/book-01/scenes/ rather than the groundwork chapters); Discrepancies (8); Objections (3, mine); What the story is committed to; Clues to plant (10); Confidence; Verification record; Cross-answer notes (6).magic-constraints.md — Seal, engine and Weave sections rewritten; the System-grammar bullets, hard walls 5 and 9, the consolidated must-never list, and the shared-discrepancy list amended; the four m1-destiny-* adversary reviews demoted to historical at the top of the file.COHERENCE.md — new "Pass 4 — destiny rebuilt" section plus a status-board note.magic-origins.md — the §3 "a hold on a life" sentence and the §6 destiny cross-note reconciled, one to two sentences each.Constraint accounting (from the old answer): 21 survived unchanged and binding, 7 were dropped with the superseded model, 9 are new. Every cross-answer guard survived and was re-issued verbatim; one was flagged as more exposed under the new mechanism and one as slightly heavier, and one long-standing fragile joint is dissolved outright rather than managed.
My adversarial pass (topics only): (1) evidence — whether the new mechanism breaks the System's own established grammar: answered, with one adopted amendment that constrains every other box in the series; (2) theme — whether the ruling hands one of Peri's misreadings a partial victory and dents anchor 2: answered, and the answer turned out to reinforce the anchor rather than merely survive it; (3) craft — whether a settled answer spends suspense the later books were built on: conceded in part, the loss recorded honestly, with three earlier replacements identified, two of which are already on the page.
Confidence: high on the core; medium-high on the one small invention the rebuild needed; medium on two plan-level placements that are cheap to move.
Decisions you may want to make (no sealed content):
10-more-work-than-the-day-needed.md ("until the destiny filled in") and 11-reports.md ("a blank destiny"). Both are single clauses; both now contradict what scenes 03 and 05 print. Want me to fix them, or will you take them in your own pass?notes/canon/system.md ([Seal of the Loom]) and notes/canon/world/magic-theory.md §7 both still describe a field that fills in later. They need bringing to the printed destiny without canon saying anything more than the page does. Say the word and I'll do it.
