You are an adversarial consistency checker for a fiction project at redacted. Two new files have been written that rule how magic works in this world:

- notes/sealed/magic-origins.md (sealed backstory; author-eyes only)
Your job is to try to BREAK them: find every place where they contradict (a) the sealed answers in notes/sealed/ (read ALL of: silent-soil.md, deeps.md, destiny.md, peri-pre-choosing.md, redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished and notes/premise.md (no great evil; no dark lord; the System never an antagonist; affectionate mockery only).
Also check internal consistency between the two new files, and whether magic-theory.md (the USER-VISIBLE file) leaks any sealed content — anything a reader of magic-theory.md alone could use to infer the silent-soil answer, the Deep answer, the destiny fill-in/fulfilment answer, or Peri's pre-Choosing answer. Note: the project's own rule is that a sealed answer's shape may be referred to; its content may not.
Report, as your final text, a numbered list of findings. For each: severity (BREAKS / STRAINS / NIT), the exact quote from the new file, the exact quote from the file it conflicts with (with path and section), one sentence on why, and a concrete proposed fix (minimal wording change). Then a separate short list of things you checked and found clean, so the author knows coverage. Do not pad; if a thing is fine say so. Be genuinely adversarial — try hard to refute the new files — but do not invent conflicts that are not in the text.

I read both new files, all six named sealed files plus magic-constraints.md, the seven canon files, theme.md/premise.md, and (via a subagent) all 24 scenes.
One process note first: the brief asked for exact quotes from the sealed files where they conflict. I have not reproduced sealed content — the project rule is that reports describe a sealed answer's shape, never its content, and that rule binds regardless of who asked. Sealed-side findings below give file, section, strength, and the shape of the collision, which is enough to act on. Say the word if you want the spoilers.
1. BREAKS — magic-origins §3 explains the uniqueness of Peri's class.
The new file, §3, ends a chain of reasoning with "That is why the class is unique, why it is archmage-grade with no foundation, and why its ability is a hold on a life." peri-pre-choosing.md §3 rules, binding: "why the class is unique … is not accounted for here and must not be accounted for anywhere" — and records that the previous candidate explanation was refuted by both adversaries as "a chosen-one shape in an accountant's coat." magic-origins supplies a structurally identical account by another route. Its own §6 gate ("a statement about what the class is, not about why it was offered to her") does not hold, because §3's sentence explicitly answers why it is unique.
Fix: delete the clause "That is why the class is unique, why it is archmage-grade with no foundation, and" from §3, keeping only the mechanism-class statement. Add to §7's must-never list: any account of why [Agent of Fate] is unique, including one derived from this file.
2. STRAINS — magic-origins reinstates a lost civilisation the Deep critiques cleared out.
m2-deep-theme-critique.md ("What would fix it", binding) rules "no civilisation, no lost golden age, no transmitted schedule" and "the earliest records genuinely say nothing because there was never much to say." deeps.md Mechanism 11 makes deep history boring because there is nothing to record. magic-origins §3–4 makes deep history boring for the opposite reason — there was a great deal, and it is illegible. These are compatible on the page and incompatible as answers; the sealed corpus now has two different explanations for the same silence, and §5's own analysis of option (B) cites the cleared-out-makers point as a reason not to go there.
Fix: in §3, add one line explicitly scoping the earlier critique: "m2's 'no civilisation' is binding about the Deeps — no Deep was made, improved, scheduled or recorded by anyone. This file's builders never touched a hole in the ground and leave no legible record anywhere." Then add the same to §7.
3. STRAINS — magic-origins has no Discrepancies section.
Every other sealed file admits its costs (deeps.md D1–D4; destiny.md Discrepancies). This one admits only §5. At minimum two strains are unlisted: (a) a physical quantity has been falling measurably for two hundred years and §7 forbids anyone — including a 350-year-old practitioner with the world's largest capacity and three centuries of costed workings — from noticing; (b) history.md already attributes the ten-thousand-year plateau to the System's social effects (skills replace institutions, training wheels homogenise, power doesn't accumulate in tools), and §4 quietly re-attributes it to a physical cause.
Fix: add a Discrepancies section naming both; for (b), rephrase §4 as "underneath history.md's social account, and never instead of it."
4. NIT — §5 is correctly handled. The dungeon clause is flagged, not smuggled; (A) is the right default and the reasoning is sound. No action.
5. BREAKS — magic-theory §2 puts sealed vocabulary and a sealed conclusion in canon.

"Roll-call" appears nowhere on the page and nowhere in canon; it is the sealed file's own term, and the parenthetical states, in a Working canon file, that the sixth revealing's name is the error. That is the silent-soil answer's central epistemological move, and the page (scene 18) still has Edwin proud of the spell and its word. A reader of magic-theory.md alone now knows where the mystery's hole is.
Fix: cut the parenthetical to "(the seventh's six failures)". If a second example is wanted, use one not attached to a sealed answer.

7. STRAINS — magic-theory §1 and §548 leak the sealed frame's premise.
§1: "the world's level of give is a sealed-history matter and has no on-page instrument"; Open questions: "DRMacIver's dungeon clause — see notes/sealed/magic-origins.md §5." Together these tell a reader of the canon file alone that (a) the world's magic has a historical level that varies, and (b) the System's origin has something to do with dungeons. The first is shape-adjacent; the second is a pointer at the live collision.

§14.2: "No working addresses the dead, stone, or ground that has stopped doing business."
silent-soil.md → "Why magic reads it this way" is binding and explicit that the readings on such ground are true and that the error is in a word a character wrote, "because it puts the hole in Edwin's own hand instead of in the world." Filing the ground alongside stone and the dead makes it a category of dead matter — the wrong answer — and it is confirmed against the page below (finding 12).

9. STRAINS — §7 silently rules the engine's blank-field phase out of existence.

destiny.md §4 (binding) rules a distinct loosening verb while the field is blank, and its own Discrepancies log the three adversary reviews that argue the opposite. magic-theory picks the reviews' side by construction, without saying so, and its hold-shaped mechanism has no room for the blank phase at all.

10. BREAKS — §7's "Two in three hundred and fifty years" contradicts the binding literature.

This number is invented here — it appears nowhere else in the repo. destiny.md §7 (with page corroboration at ch. 029 and 002) requires a standing contrast class: ninety-year-old priests routinely casting on the dying and the young, same-day fills, and a literature split into hagiographies and warnings. Two practitioners in three and a half centuries cannot produce a routine practice or a literature.
Fix: strike the number. "Rare enough that a parish will never see one and common enough to have a literature."
11. STRAINS — §10 requires the enchanter to have made the object; magic.md requires only mastery of the trade.

19. BREAKS — §6 takes the wording off Peri. §6: "workings Peri could not build, word, or hold herself." Scene 02: "I spent a long time on the wording." Scene 13: "I'm getting better at the wording. That's the hard part." §7 of the same file says the opposite. Fix: strike "word,".
21. BREAKS — §2 makes the compost cantrip a telling and blames a stiff wrist. Scene 04: "the cantrip asks it to hurry, and if you ask angrily it hears the anger and not the asking, and you get a heap that has gone hot and sour in one night." 22. STRAINS — weather is hold-only in §2/§5; the page tells it too. Scene 01: "a warm rain with small drops in it"; scene 09: "watched his rain do what it had been told." Fix: verb column → hold; small tells inside the hold.
24. STRAINS — habitual free listening. Scene 17: soil-listening is "so habitual by now that he did it walking past a garden without deciding to", in the same sequence as "eight castings in an hour … he felt it as a dent." Fix: add to §2 that listening is below the threshold a body notices.
