The rest of book one was drafted in a single long session. The book was finished.

David asked for everything after the published scenes to be drafted in one sustained push, with instructions to stop if quality visibly slipped rather than push through regardless. Over roughly fifty commits in under three hours, the second act was redrafted from scratch, and the third act was drafted alongside it, plotted out fresh with its own scene structure. Each scene went through the same pipeline settled on over the previous few days: a draft, then a canon-consistency check, a craft-quality review and a check for phrasing repeated across scenes, in that order, before it was committed.

A few prose-habit corrections came out of the day’s work. One reasoning connective in the narration was overused against its target rate, so its rate came down, with the underlying reasoning kept and recast into shorter sentences or different connecting words. A phrase for where scenes were set had been reused across six separate instances, so it was varied while the actual place names stayed the same. The check for repeated phrasing caught several pairs of scenes that had drifted into echoing each other, and those got reworked.

With the last scene drafted, David had Claude update the project’s status tracking and write a short handoff note for whoever picked this up next, nine days after the first line of narrator’s voice was written.
