Consistency Check: Scenes 74–76 (Day 37, Holm Deep interior)

Findings

1. redacted's knee injury is staged in the wrong place — direct contradiction.
   Scene 75 unpublished: "the third time redacted, who was redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted said 'Forty'" — this stages the injury inside the hill, on the slope, as one of redacted's three hill injuries.

Canon is explicit and triple-sourced that redacted's knee happened on the cart, not in the hill:

  redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished "six redacted (redacted plus five; redacted's knee on the cart)" and, discussing an earlier draft's third-injury character: "Kentish... redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted's knee on the cart. Both flagged." — i.e. a previous drafting pass hit this exact collision and deliberately routed around it by giving the in-hill injury to a different, invented character and keeping redacted's for the cart.

Minimal fix: rename the character who takes the on-slope knee (e.g. reuse the plan's precedent and give it to an unnamed/new redacted hand, or to redacted, who is already introduced in scene 75 unpublished via scene 73 unpublished), and leave redacted's knee for its established off-page moment on the cart at the mouth.

2. Slope transit time may be compressed to zero. dungeons.md's delve-day clock gives "descent from 11:45"; scene 74 unpublished has redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished has them arrive at the second chamber "at a quarter to twelve" (11:45) after 400 yards of loose broken stone, three fours-closing stops, and redacted's fall. If "descent from 11:45" means the slope descent begins at 11:45, the draft leaves no time to walk it. Likely just needs the second-chamber arrival nudged a few minutes later (e.g. "five to twelve" or later) so the canon clock and the page agree — low severity, easy fix, worth a beat check rather than a rewrite.

3. "The Ordish bank" as a prior ground-listening site is unverifiable / possibly mismatched. Scene 75 unpublished: "did what he had done on the Ordish bank and on the fen edge and at the chain." "At the chain" is solidly established (scene 59 unpublished). "The fen edge" is established only as an air-working scene (64), not a ground-listening one — Edwin never kneels and listens to soil at the fen edge on the page. "The Ordish bank" appears nowhere else in the corpus; the closest Ordish-farm ground-listening on the page (scene 34, "off-the-post") is in a barley field at a chain-line, never called a "bank." This isn't a hard contradiction (there could be an unshown prior instance, and Edwin's soil-listening range is broadly established), but the specific site names don't cleanly cite to on-page events — flag for the author/consistency-backfill rather than a required fix; minimal fix would be to drop "the Ordish bank" or replace with a citation-safe descriptor ("the stump line," matching scene 34/43).

4. redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished are close in register but distinct). It's consistent with the existing pattern of unexplained-but-obeyed warden rules (the air rule is explicitly "correct without anybody knowing why" per the sealed answer). However, the sealed file notes/sealed/deeps.md rules flatly "No intelligence at any depth," and a line that literally states the hill "can hear" you sits close to that line even though it reads as folk superstition rather than assertion of fact. Not a contradiction as written (nobody confirms it, it's presented as an unexplained rule), but worth a second look before it recurs or gets validated on the page.

Checks that came back clean (worth recording as confirmations)

• First chamber cleared "twenty to eleven" (10:40) — matches dungeons.md's clock exactly.
• Bottom chamber reached "twenty past one" (13:20) — matches exactly; departure "a quarter to two" (13:45) and lamps yellow "ten to two" (13:50) sit consistently before the canon 14:10 refilled-second-chamber injury, which correctly does not appear in these scenes.
• Nine ways in the first chamber (one more than the page), the fourth widened and ring-chalked — matches dungeons.md and the sealed evidence table exactly (Evidence 23).

• Slope water running "down and away, into the hill" — matches sealed Evidence #9 (the cascade/engine of the draw) exactly.
• redacted's "four times before" in Weedmonth, dry — matches redacted.md` ("four times") and the sealed answer's Evidence #11 exactly.
• Bottom chamber: dry, three ways, old sign, little fresh — matches dungeons.md and sealed Evidence #16/#17 exactly; no bottom-chamber kill figure given, correctly honoring dungeons.md's explicit instruction not to let a per-chamber table be reconstructed.
• Peri's status showing a kill count and a separate opaque "value" number, not yet Swordsmanship — matches dungeons.md's "System and delving" section exactly, and correctly predates the canon Swordsmanship unlock (which happens later, in the refilled second chamber at ~14:10, per `peri.md/clue-ledger row 77).
• "I could block it... buys eighteen inches" — Edwin's drain diagnosis and refusal to block matches the sealed answer's §8 rule #1 and evidence table nearly verbatim ("his arithmetic is right, his mechanism incomplete").
• redacted (redacted/redacted's) and redacted (Fenholt/redacted's fourth) fit cleanly into the "four unnamed" redacted slots and unnamed Charter-hand slots in minor.md — no contradiction, just new names filling existing gaps.

New facts (unestablished before this draft; not contradictions, flagged for backfill)

• A named warden's page/record listing three prior mages who each "heard something" at Holm's second chamber or bottom, making Edwin the fourth and the first to write "nothing."
• A printed delve form (folded in four) that redacted carries and fills in at the bottom, plus the rule that "the count is said at the throat and written at the bottom... and if the two figures don't agree, it's the bottom's that stands."
• redacted's rule/saying: "a person who shouts in a hill is a person the hill can hear" (see Finding 4).
• Edwin's line "I had built forty of them" (drains) — no prior canon gives a specific count of drains/cisterns Edwin built; only a general, unquantified "drainage scheme he once built" is on record.
• The specific site "the Ordish bank" as a prior ground-listening location (see Finding 3).
• redacted and redacted as named individuals within previously-unnamed redacted/Charter-hand slots.
