Repo: redacted (a novel-writing project). This is a READ-ONLY research task: do not edit, write, or create any files in the repo, do not run git commands, and never read anything under notes/sealed/.
redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished, 46-a-list-of-houses.md unpublished, 47-dont-tell-me-yet.md unpublished, 48-the-eleventh-of-cornmonth.md unpublished.
redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished Then read the four scene files.
For EACH of the four scenes produce, exhaustively but tersely:
- ESTABLISHED FACTS the scene states that canon does not yet record: names, roles, ages, places, distances, prices, dates/days, System text (Skill/Level boxes verbatim), procedures, who-knows-what. Give exact quote + scene number/filename for each.
- IMPLICATIONS beyond what's stated (character history, geography, economy, institutions, magic mechanics, timeline) that canon should hold as Working claims. Cite the scene.
- CONTRADICTIONS with existing canon: quote both the scene and the canon file/section that conflicts.
- OPEN QUESTIONS from notes/canon/deferred-questions.md unpublished that the scene touches, and whether it resolves one (flag if so — open questions should not be resolved casually).
Do NOT include anything about the cause of the "silent soil" mystery (that's a sealed answer — don't discuss or speculate on its cause).
Organize your final output by canon target file, e.g. "## characters/peri.md", "## world/timeline.md", "## world/geography.md", "## characters/minor.md" — group all findings that would land in that file together, each bullet citing which scene it came from. This is so a later pass can apply canon updates file by file.
Return the full organized markdown text as your final report (this is the primary deliverable — write it out in full, don't just summarize that you did it). Also give a one-line count: number of established facts, implications, and contradictions found.

Enough grounding gathered. Here is the extraction report.
characters/redacted.md
- [46, 45] New on-page physical description of redacted (none exists in characters/redacted.md
orappearance.md currently — redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose Consistent with existing "gear as Peri listed it" entry but adds body description ("not tall") not previously recorded. Established fact to add.
- [45] Edwin's read on redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose ch. 012") but with new phrasing worth citing to scene 45 unpublished as the re-established source.
- [46] Gear rationale, richer than canon's terse list: exact reasons given in her own voice — hook is "a fen bill... redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted.md gear entry (four-foot billhook, dented hood, restitched glove, left-shoulder wear) — this scene supplies the reasons, which is new content to fold into redacted.md.
- [46] New quantified fact: "For the person behind me" — the rope is explicitly for whoever follows her on a delve/walk. Not previously on record.
- [46] New quantified fact: since Weedmonth, redacted has walked out to the chain eleven times, nine "mine" (her own book), two chalked by redacted and redacted on her request "if they were passing the post." Cross-check against dungeons.md's leakage-count citations (Weedmonth 4/Haymonth 7/Cornmonth 19) — not in conflict, this is a separate tally (visits, not counts) and is new.
- [46] Confirms existing fact, new phrasing: "Four times... Before Weedmonth, and not since" — down Holm Deep four times before redacted, matches redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted (chs. 014, 015)." No new information, re-established via scene 46 unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose
- [46] New: redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose
- [47] New forward-pointing beat: redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose Flag as a deferred beat (Edwin's own hands-on read of the mouth) rather than resolving it now.
- [47] New date claim: redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose 014)." Confirms rather than creates.
characters/minor.md (redacted, redacted, redacted, Mattie/Tess, corn factor's man)
- [45] Confirms existing figures, no new facts: redacted 68, guildmaster 22 years, roster arithmetic (19 on the wall, 4 dead/gone unstruck, 3 over-sixty daylight-only, redacted+redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted/redacted entries exactly. Re-establishes via scene 45 unpublished, no contradiction, no new fact.
- [45] New characterization/quote for redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted's clerk-as-record-keeper characterization; consistent with minor.md's existing redacted entry ("hides behind the book," "enters every count within the day").
- [45] New institutional procedure, worth recording: redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted's compliance — fetching redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted, redacted, redacted, redacted, plus Edwin/Peri as witnesses) before it goes to the board. This is a Charter norm not previously on record: rulings that affect a named rostered hand are read back to that hand before posting. New Established fact, candidate for
institutions.md's Charter-practice section.
- [45] redacted: named and present, "a big slow-spoken man," fetched from the pump, on the roster, "stood at that chain." Matches minor.md's existing terse "redacted (counts; the second gate;...)" entry — adds a first physical/character beat for redacted, which minor.md currently lacks.
- [45] New Edwin beat: Edwin asks redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose This bridges the Holm Deep/Charter thread and the barley-field thread on the page — worth recording as the mechanism by which the worm-count data becomes available to the corn factor's man (relevant to scene 48 unpublished's corn-factor visit). New Established fact.
redacted sentence: unpublished prose ch. 009"): in scene 48 unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose
redacted sentence: unpublished prose No new canon fact, but establishes she is physically present for the Day-15 Charter-house scene, which the existing timeline entry for that day did not explicitly place her at.
world/institutions.md (the Fenholt Charter)
redacted sentence: unpublished prose
redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished (it already is recorded as fired elsewhere in dungeons.md/timeline.md, so this is a migration note, not a new resolution).
- [45] Confirms, does not add: day rate 1s 8d for Charter delvers vs 3s + dinner for Marsh's drains — matches institutions.md's pricing table exactly.
redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted farm (redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted's, the two Hobbs, the redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose No contradiction — confirms via new dialogue-form citation, but adds concrete detail not previously recorded: redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted sentence: unpublished prose
world/geography.md
redacted sentence: unpublished prose Scene 46 unpublished is a clean dramatization of already-Established geography; cite scene 46 unpublished alongside the existing ch. 009/013-015 citations as the scene now carrying this material on the page.
world/dungeons.md (Holm Deep)
redacted sentence: unpublished prose in nine years"); the mouth "still drawing" as of "yesterday" per the slate. All match dungeons.md's existing Established entry verbatim in substance. Cite scene 45 unpublished as the new on-page source, migrating the citation from ch. 012/019 (deleted draft) to the live scene.
redacted sentence: unpublished prose Minor addition.
- [46/47] Confirms: redacted down Holm Deep four times before redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose
world/timeline.md
redacted sentence: unpublished prose Scene 48 unpublished dramatizes the derivation: Edwin's barley-rate backward calculation (± 7 days), then Mattie's correction via the corn factor's man's dated docket (11th) and her own observation of the edge beginning to go on the 13th, narrowing it to "the eleventh or twelfth." This scene supplies the on-page methodology and witnessed corroboration for a fact timeline.md already carries as Established — recommend migrating timeline.md's citation for this line from the deleted ch. 013 to scene 48 unpublished, and adding the corn-factor's-man corroboration detail (11 Cornmonth docket date; edge visibly going by 13 Cornmonth) as new supporting evidence.
- [45] Confirms Day 15 (29 Cornmonth) Charter-house scene — redacted's ruling, redacted's counts, the board — matches timeline.md's existing Day 15 entry precisely (including the "eleven weeks and five days" / "held forty-nine... hold thirty-three" language). Recommend migrating the citation from ch. 012 to scene 45 unpublished.
- [47] Confirms Day 18 (2 Harvestmonth): redacted's stated plan to be at the mouth that day matches the existing entry "redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose
characters/edwin.md / characters/peri.md (relationship material)
- [48] New characterization beat, not yet in canon: Edwin notices that the barley edge's calculated pass-date (11 Cornmonth) falls four days before Peri's arrival and binding of his life — "Neither of them wrote it." Both Edwin and Peri privately register the coincidence and say nothing. This is a small but real emotional beat about the two dates sitting close together; recommend a Working note in
characters/edwin.md and/or characters/peri.md under their relationship material, since it's a scene beat about their bond rather than a plot fact.
redacted sentence: unpublished prose
- [45] Small Edwin beat: Edwin sits silent through the whole Charter-house scene, unasked, and privately judges both redacted and redacted "right" with "nothing in the room to correct" — consistent with his established analytical, non-intervening habit; not a new canon fact, just voice-consistent behavior.
Open questions touched (from deferred-questions.md) — none resolved
- None of these four scenes touch or resolve any row in
notes/canon/deferred-questions.md. unpublished They dramatize already-scheduled, already-Established Day 15–18 material (Holm Deep's postponement ruling, the fen-margin houses, the barley band-dating) rather than opening or closing any deferred question. In particular:
- The silent-soil cluster is not discussed or speculated on in any of the four scenes beyond the already-canonical "barley band" mechanics (which is explicitly the non-sealed, page-visible layer) — no sealed material was touched or needs mention.
- redacted's "How long before redacted is believed" and "grandmother's people" rows are untouched.
- The Frostmonth tide-mark and dungeon-break design-doc rows are untouched (scene 47 unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose
- No holiday, god, realm/capital/king, or Edwin's-class-name proper noun is used anywhere in the four scenes — clean on the standing-constraint list.
Counts: ~19 established/confirmed facts (including several genuinely new items: the Charter's "read-it-back-to-everyone-it-concerns" procedure, redacted's gear-rationale quotes, the rope's purpose, her eleven-visits tally, redacted's first characterization beat, Edwin's board request for the worm count, and the corn-factor docket corroboration), ~5 implications/forward-pointing beats (Edwin's still-owed hands-on visit to the Deep's mouth; the Edwin/Peri date-coincidence beat; Edwin's deliberate teaching method with Peri), 0 contradictions found.
