Repo: redacted (a novel-writing project). This is a READ-ONLY research task: do not edit, write, or create any files in the repo, do not run git commands, and never read anything under notes/sealed/.

Task: perform the "extraction" half of consistency-backfill for four scenes: draft/book-01/scenes/49-the-middles-walk.md unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished, 52-eleven-hazel-twigs.md unpublished.

redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished Then read the four scene files.

For EACH of the four scenes produce, exhaustively but tersely:

  1. ESTABLISHED FACTS the scene states that canon does not yet record: names, roles, ages, places, distances, prices, dates/days, System text (Skill/Level boxes verbatim), procedures, who-knows-what. Give exact quote + scene number/filename for each.
  2. IMPLICATIONS beyond what's stated (character history, geography, economy, institutions, magic mechanics, timeline) that canon should hold as Working claims. Cite the scene.
  3. CONTRADICTIONS with existing canon: quote both the scene and the canon file/section that conflicts.
  4. OPEN QUESTIONS from notes/canon/deferred-questions.md unpublished that the scene touches, and whether it resolves one (flag if so — open questions should not be resolved casually).

Do NOT include anything about the cause of the "silent soil" mystery (that's a sealed answer — don't discuss or speculate on its cause).

Organize your final output by canon target file, e.g. "## characters/peri.md", "## world/timeline.md", "## world/geography.md", "## characters/minor.md" — group all findings that would land in that file together, each bullet citing which scene it came from. This is so a later pass can apply canon updates file by file.

Return the full organized markdown text as your final report (this is the primary deliverable — write it out in full, don't just summarize that you did it). Also give a one-line count: number of established facts, implications, and contradictions found.

Given the scope, I'll read the four scenes now, then read remaining canon files targeted by what the scenes actually touch (rather than every world file at full length), to stay within budget while still being thorough.

Consistency-Backfill Extraction — Scenes 49–52

Sources read: notes/canon/README.md, system.md, deferred-beats.md, deferred-questions.md, world/silent-soil.md, world/timeline.md, characters/mattie-ordish.md, characters/minor.md, plus targeted greps of world/geography.md and characters/redacted.md. Silent-soil's underlying cause is not discussed anywhere below, per instruction.

world/silent-soil.md

From scene 49 unpublished (the middles walk, Day 16 / 30 Cornmonth):

New three-question exchange at the gate (redacted), candidate for characters/minor.md (redacted entry):

characters/mattie-ordish.md

characters/edwin.md

characters/peri.md

redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished). This is a new, specific piece of Peri's record-keeping habit — worth folding into system.md's [Seal of the Loom] cooldown material or characters/peri.md's characterization notes. It also reconfirms (not contradicts) the established midnight-cooldown convention, since it's tracked as a separate running count from the formal cooldown.

Open questions from deferred-questions.md touched by these scenes

Counts: Established facts — 34. Implications — 9. Contradictions — 3 (the middles' weekly rate arithmetic vs. "about a yard a week"; the pale field's outer-arc length, 200 yd vs. established ~140 yd; the Fenholt–Ranner's Sluice distance, 14 mi vs. established 12 mi).
