Canon consistency check on four newly drafted scenes of the third draft of Book 1 of Autoroad: draft/book-01/scenes/52-eleven-hazel-twigs.md unpublished, 53-odderins-gate.md unpublished, 54-before-the-charter.md unpublished, 55-four-miles-of-nothing.md unpublished. redacted sentence: unpublished prose redacted redacted sentence: unpublished prose unpublished and draft/book-01/SCENES.md (the act-two binding list at its foot). Also read scenes 25–51 in draft/book-01/scenes/ for continuity (not under review) — check every back-reference in 52–55 (the pantry door and what was promised there and on which day, "the ninth", "the fifth", "a fortnight later", the oak stakes and who gave them, the carrier, Tess's hundred seconds and how many weeks ago, what Mattie said about redacted's field in scene 51 unpublished, what the Charter book and slate showed in scenes 44–46) against what the earlier third-draft scenes actually say. Do NOT read anything under notes/sealed/.

redacted sentence: unpublished prose Numbered, terse, no praise.

I've launched the consistency check as a background subagent since this task requires reading a very large volume of canon and scene files (which would overflow context if done directly in this session). It's checking scenes 52–55 against:

I'll report back with the full numbered findings (contradictions, deferred-question violations, date errors, arithmetic errors, new facts, and voice-rule issues) once it completes.

Canon Consistency Check — Scenes 52–55

(1) Hard contradictions

A. "The ninth" doesn't resolve. 54-before-the-charter.md unpublished: "You told her at the pantry door on the ninth and it's the fifth." Given Day 1 = 15 Cornmonth, "the ninth" (if Cornmonth) predates the story start; if Harvestmonth, it postdates "the fifth" — contradicts the "ten days later" logic either way. Needs the author's intended date, not a guess. Compounding: reference scene 51 unpublished (not under review, but feeds this arithmetic) itself gives an 8–10 day gap in its body text ("the eighth day," "ten days") against its own title ("two weeks ago") — the two scenes should be reconciled together.

B. redacted's "second time" blowing-out claim. 55-four-miles-of-nothing.md unpublished: "It's blowing out. That's the second time, and you've had the first off me since the second of the month." Canon's established air-reading chronology has the mouth read null on 2 Harvestmonth, then blow on the 5th — making today's reading the mouth's first recorded blow, not second. Either this implies an off-page blow event canon doesn't yet record (flag for backfill) or the line should read "first."

C. SCENES.md citation drift. The act-two binding list says Edwin names the improbability engine aloud "once (53)" — the actual coincidence-catalogue speech is in scene 54 unpublished. Update the citation once confirmed.

(2) Deferred questions — clean

No violations. Scene 55 unpublished explicitly rules the field/Holm-Deep adjacency out on the page (redacted's four-mile test), matching deferred-questions.md's permanent "no" ruling — correct dramatization, not a resolution violation. Nothing names the ground dead; no store/heap/charm in a sentence with a field; the sold-sheep and Tess-Weedmonth deferred questions stay untouched.

(3) Date/calendar

Scenes 52–53 = 2 Harvestmonth (Day 18), internally consistent. Scenes 54–55 = 5 Harvestmonth (Day 21), internally consistent. Only the "ninth" problem in (1)(A) is a real error.

(4) Sums/distances

No internal arithmetic errors in 52–55 themselves. Minor wording variance: scene 52 unpublished puts the pale field "north-east" of the road; silent-soil.md says "north" — align unless deliberate. redacted's Holm Deep–to–Ordish-gate distance matches canon.

(5) New facts for backfill

  1. Pale field's turf sits on a mat of non-rotting old grass beneath the surface.
  2. Sheep dung inside the arc stays whole/unrotted vs. normal decay outside it.
  3. redacted's field: "the folding ground" — nightly sheep-folding (up to 300), put to permanent pasture by redacted's father, went odd when his daughter (now 40) was born.
  4. Four other locally "bad" fields tested and cleared as ordinary controls.
  5. redacted's stakes: oak, six only, outer line only.
  6. redacted: 70, "a lawyer about his own gate," grandson (14) who writes a fine hand.
  7. Possible new off-page mouth-blow event implied by redacted's "second time" line — see (1)(B).

(6) Mattie voice-rule violations

Two of her five lines in scene 54 unpublished breach the binding voice file (characters/mattie-ordish.md):
redacted sentence: unpublished prose

Suggested fix direction: break both into short stacked declaratives, strip "as if" and "and...and," per rule 1/7b/7e in her file.
